Boosting Online Sales at Christmas
Christmas time gives many of us online entrepreneurs a once a year sales boost however, so many online businesses neglect to capitalise on the seasonal trade properly.
Tip 1: Delivery Times
If your product can be shipped and delivered before Christmas make sure that it is clearly displayed on your website.
Many online shoppers will browse through the various online stores looking for gifts but don’t assume that they will ask if your product will be delivered in time for Christmas. Many will just leave and buy from the site that clearly tells them that “This product delivers in time for Christmas”.
Tip 2: E mail
Run a special e-mail promotion or an advisory e-mail and get your subscribers to your back to your site.
You can run a special subscribers only Christmas offer or simply let them know that there is only so many days left to guarantee delivery for Christmas.
At the very least E-mail your subscribers with a happy Christmas message. This in itself will generate some sales, that is, if you cannot run any of the previous 2 strategies.
Tip 3: Capitalize On Themed Key Phrases In The Pay Per Click Search Engines.
So many online businesses out there are missing out on highly targeted holiday keyword phrases, which is good news for you as many of these phrases will come a lot cheaper than you might think.
Rather than the usual key phrases you use to drive traffic for your website. Try to think about how some one might search for your product as a gift.
For Example:
If you run an online store selling Cricket items or equipment and you normally PPC terms such as Cricket Bats, Cricket Gloves, Cricket Equipment, you might just discover that there’s a huge amount of people look for gifts to give to a Cricketer and they might be using search terms such as:-
Cricket Gifts,
Gifts for cricket,
Cricket Christmas gifts,
Gifts for a Cricketer,
Cricket Presents,
Etc…
A small amount of keyword research using the Google keyword tool at:- https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
Will tell you November’s data for each of the keyword phrases you can think of which will be a good indication of any highly searched for phrases.
Using the example above Google is stating that throughout November 1000 people searched for “Cricket Gifts”.
However, you should set up any of the phrases you come up with even if Google doesn’t display any data for that keyword. These will come extremely cheap even if they only send a few of clicks per day.
Tip 4: Gift Vouchers
Is your site offering gift vouchers?
Many people will purchase Gift Vouchers for loved ones so that they can decide what to purchase from your store, it saves them valuable time and the recipient can decide what they want to buy.
They are also extremely easy to create and send. Plus, if the recipient has never purchased from you before you may just obtain a new lifetime customer!
